Town Applies for NCDOT Bicycle & Pedestrian Planning Grant

The Town of Archer Lodge recently applied for a 2017 NCDOT Bicycle & Pedestrian Planning Grant.  If awarded, the grant will fund development of a comprehensive plan to identify opportunities for bicycling & walking facilities, such as greenways, trails, sidewalks, and on-road improvements such as bike lanes, pedestrian crosswalks, and other features.  It will also describe methods and funding sources to construct these facilities as the Town grows, including new development requirements to connect sidewalks to open space, adjoining neighborhoods, schools, future parks, etc.  The Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan will be used in conjunction with the Town’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Parks and Recreation Master Plan, and the forthcoming Southeast Area Study to help Town officials, residents, and landowners plan the future growth of Archer Lodge.  The grant would require a 10% Town match of approximately $3,000.  NCDOT is anticipating grant award announcements in March 2017.  Please click the link below to view the Town’s application.
