Clyde Castleberry still lives on the site of the family farm on Castleberry Road in Archer Lodge. Castleberry attended Clayton public schools and N.C. State University before his father’s illness forced him to return to the family farm. Castleberry spent two years helping to manage a fertilizer dealership, and another two years with Revels Tractor Co. When Revels closed the dealership, he went to work driving a gasoline tanker for Wendell Transport Company until 1988, when he began dispatching from the Selma office. In 1996, he accepted a sales and marketing role. He currently holds the same position with Reliable Tank Lines, a company based in Winston-Salem. Community service was instilled in Castleberry from a young age. His father, Hoyt, was a Johnston County Commissioner. He became a member of the Archer Lodge Volunteer Fire Department in 1974 as soon as he was old enough to drive, and has served on the department’s board of directors. An active member of the Archer Lodge Community Center, he is active in fundraising, helps coach a T- Ball team, and serves on the board of directors. He is a former member of the Clayton Jaycees and Clayton Civitan. A member of White Oak Baptist Church until 1996, he is currently a member of Beacon Baptist in Raleigh where his wife, Rhonda, is employed. He and Rhonda are very active in the Sunday School at Beacon, and also manage a golf cart ministry for the elderly and handicapped. Clyde and Rhonda have three children, Seth, Dan & Natalie. Clyde represents the Town of Archer Lodge on the Johnston County Economic Development Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Building Committee charged with overseeing construction of the new Town Hall.
